Breeding Operations

We generally breed one or two New York mares to take advantage of the highly lucrative bonuses offered to horses bred and racing in-state. For example, in New York State in 2009 more than $43 million was awarded to New York bred horse owners in the form of purses and added bonuses. The New York breeders fund also awarded almost $9 million alone to the breeders of New York bred horses. Similar amounts are being offered in both Pennsylvania and Florida. Additional information on the New York bred incentive program can be found at www.nybreds.com.

Bona Venture Stables uses Half-A-Chance Farm in Gansevoort, NY, outside of Saratoga Springs, as our primary breeding farm. We currently have one more, Uno Dos in foal to Posse.
