Racing Operations

Peter Wasiluk, Jr., racing at Tampa Bay Downs (winter/spring) and Delaware Park (summer/fall) is one of Bona Venture Stables trainers.  Pete trains several Bona Venture horses and serves as the stables primary blood stock agent for our purchases at the Ocala 2 year-olds in training sale.  Pete is assisted by his wife, Sharyn, and they maintain a public racing stable of about 20 horses.

Leah Gyarmati is a young trainer (former jockey) on the New York racing circuit. She is Bona Venture Stables NY-based trainer.  Leah has a year-round stable at Belmont Park which allows her to conveniently ship into Aqueduct and Monmouth Park.  She relocates the bulk of her stable to Saratoga for the premier summer meet in August.  She maintains a public stable of about 25 horses, focusing heavily on New York breds.  Leah is also our primary consultant for NY bred yearling purchases.

Dave Markgraf manages a few New York breds for us at Finger Lakes Race Track, outside of Rochester, NY, during the summer/fall racing season.

All our trainers operate small public racing stables, providing hands on training for all Bona Venture Stables horses.  Our philosophy is to place our horses with training operations where they (and the owners) receive more personalized attention and each owner truly feels a part of the thoroughbred racing action.
